ReCharge & ReSearch is both an audiovisual experience and a scientific study. Art does something to you—it can inspire, ground, relax, or intensely stimulate you. Psychologists Kirsten van den Bosch and Tassos Sarampalis from the University of Groningen, together with artistic duo Delic & Huda, are conducting research during this show in the DOT dome on the effects of art. You may know Delic as the producer of the Zwolle-based hip-hop group Opgezwolle.
ReCharge offers a moment of reflection and recovery in a world full of stimuli. Let yourself be immersed in this 360-degree immersive artwork, a sensory-rich experience. Be enveloped by captivating visuals and hypnotic music in the unique setting of a planetarium. Escape the chaos, recharge, and contribute to new scientific insights.
Afterwards, engage in a conversation with the artists and researchers about what you experienced, how it affected you, the artistic vision, and the science behind it. Binaural beats are special sound tones played through headphones. Each ear receives a slightly different tone, causing the brain to perceive a third, pulsing sound—the so-called binaural beat. It's claimed that these sounds can help with relaxation, focus, or better sleep—but is that really true?
During ReCharge & ReSearch, psychologists Kirsten and Tassos, together with Delic & Huda, are searching for answers. What do binaural beats really do to our brains? And do people truly experience the promised effects?
Please note: this performance is not suitable for individuals with epilepsy or other light-sensitive conditions, and for those under the age of 16. To participate in the research, a smartphone with mobile data is required.
The first show at 14:00 is in Dutch. The second show at 16:00 is in English.
