For Real

Resonate Productions

For Real is a theatrical radio show about what it means to matter. It starts with the intellectual undermining of women: the lack of interest in what they think, say, create, or strive to achieve.

Voices that matter

Take a seat in a radio studio with live music, where you’ll hear the voices of fourteen women from different generations and countries broadcast over the speakers. They share their personal perspectives on the intellectual undermining of women, shaped by their experiences with sexism that targets both mind and spirit, professionally and personally. How does this affect self-worth, confidence, relationships, and ultimately the course of life itself?

You’re invited to complete the research by sharing your own experiences on these topics if you feel comfortable (it’s not required). The conversations are supported by a new improvisational technique in which musicians accompany these vulnerable and honest exchanges with their instruments.

Each performance of For Real is recorded and published as a podcast episode. In doing so, Resonate builds a collection of voices and ideas about what it means to matter: to have dignity, to feel understood, and to be taken seriously.

Earlier this year, this project made a powerful impression at events including O. Festival and De Balie in Amsterdam.

*Participation in the podcast-recording happens on a voluntary basis.
Feel free to take part in the live-interviews, or to simply watch and listen.

In short: For Real by Resonate Productions is one of the best performances I've seen in a long time.
