Hit the North presents: Djoeke

Behind a quirky appearance, hides a vulnerable singer. With her layered voice, the Friesian Djoeke, sings of the female perspective in her noir-tinged, English-language chansons. Daughter of an opera singer, the drama is in her genes. In the vein of Piaf, but with stark instrumentation à la Portishead here and there.

Hit the North is the talent development program for artists in the Northern Netherlands. Participants of Hit the North follow intensive bootcamps, workshops and coaching sessions focused on artistic growth and business skills. The goal is for young talent to advance to regional and national stages after this program. One of the performances is at ESNS and one of the Liberation Festivals in the north of the Netherlands.
