History
A festival by the name of Noorderzon was first organized in 1991. It was a combination of a successful local festival that presented Sunday music programmes at different locations in the city centre of Groningen, together with a subdivision of festival ‘De Parade’. Now – 25 years later – Noorderzon has expanded to an international arts manifestation that attracts over 135.000 visitors, and is well known beyond the Dutch borders. A lot has happened in the past twenty-five years.

Under the name Noorderzon, a manifestation was launched on August 4, 1991, offering music, as well as a multitude of high quality cultural expressions, and drawing a large crowd.
