When we heard that our programmer had booked Arab Strap, quite a stir arose in our office. "Wow, how cool!", "I used to be a real fan of theirs", to: "Ehh, I don't know them" - yes, that was indeed a colleague from Gen Z (born after 1995). To that colleague, here's a brief explanation: Arab Strap, the duo of Aidan Moffat and Malcom Middleton, is considered one of the most important and influential Scottish bands of the 1990s. With a strong cocktail of echoing guitars, lo-fi synthesizers, hypnotic drums and, of course, that dark brown whiskey voice, they conquered a lot of hearts all over the world. The success lasted until 2006 and eventually they each went their separate ways. But since their new album in 2021 As Days Get Dark, they are back and perhaps better than ever.
