Ietsje Meems and Floortje Goettsch sing traditional English folk songs and play tunes on violin, harp and bodhrán. With their music, they tell stories that do not fit in history books. They give voice to workers, strong women, jealous sisters, a wandering child, desperately married people and militant citizens. Their repertoire includes polyphonic ballads, powerful songs and upbeat tunes.

23 August 15:00 - 15:45 | Classic Jamming
Witness unique compositions that will only sound once! Classic Jamming is Groningen's breeding ground for adventurous classical music. Musicians with different backgrounds and levels create new compositions together on the spot. Regardless of sheet music or pre-recorded formats, they let music arise in the moment. During this special Noorderzon edition, the audience gets to help determine how the music will sound. The Classic Jamming artists are inspired by themes chosen by the audience.

24 August 15:00 - 15:45 | Opera singer Elina Mykheieva
Elina is a singer from Odessa, Ukraine. She studied at a college of music and holds a diploma as a choir conductor. After that, she did the conservatory in the direction of opera. After studying in many different places, she found out that this work, as an opera singer, does what she loves best. 

25 August 15:00 - 15:45 | CMV Juliana Aduard
CMV Juliana is a super fun and friendly brass band from Aduard. Fun comes first, and in the meantime, the orchestra continues to develop: last year, they were promoted to the 3rd division. It is a dynamic and versatile band with over 70 members. During Noorderzon, a number of Juliana members form an occasional ensemble. It is a cross-section of the corps, so the various (high and low) voices and instruments are represented. In our repertoire, we also show different sides: both quiet, carried music and cheerful music with a beat. And some soloists will also make themselves heard.

26 August 15:00 - 15:45 | Slagwerkensemble Appingedam
The Melodic Percussion Ensemble Appingedam, part of the Slagwerkensemble Appingedam, has been providing a unique musical experience for over 20 years. The ensemble consists of six enthusiastic percussionists who, on marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel and vibraphone, take you on a musical journey you won't soon forget. The performance at Noorderzon is a new highlight that these percussionists are very much looking forward to! For this performance, several new works will be added to the repertoire to keep challenging themselves and surprising you as an audience.

The Ommelander Saxophone Quartet consists of four enthusiastic musicians who share their passion for saxophone music. With a broad repertoire, they know how to surprise and move their audience time and again.
This year, the Ommelander Saxophone Quartet will perform a varied programme at the Noorderzon Festival. The quartet is ready to enchant audiences with a selection of impressive pieces, including ‘Suite Hellenique’, ‘Porgy and Bess’, ‘Dixien for Saxes’ and more!

29 August 15:00 - 15:45 | STEK
The new singing group STEK experienced its debut on stage in Warfhuizen this spring during the 4 May Project's performance ‘Forbidden Voices’. This was so successful that STEK wants to keep singing, now also on the Noorderzon stage. Among others, STEK will sing Tarim and Ya Wared, a Uyghur and an Iranian song, as well as the English-language Words and Monument. The songs were chosen for the performance because they are not allowed to be sung or because they show a forbidden voice in another way.

30 August 15:00 - 15:45 | FRIDAY Cello ensemble
The cello ensemble consists of adults, with a hard core that has been playing together for a number of years. Last year they also performed at Noorderzon, which tasted of more! The ensemble plays all kinds of genres of music, from baroque to popular.This time too, they will play a very varied programme with Vivaldi, Bach, Golterman, Kol Nidrei by Bruch and the Bohemian Rhapsody.

31 August 15:00 - 15:45 | Blaaskr'8
Our ensemble is indeed called Blaaskr'8 and we are 10 musicians this year. Blaaskr‘8 is an ensemble formed from the Harmonie orchestra Harmonie’67 from the city of Groningen, actually a scaled-down version of the Harmonie orchestra Harmonie'67. The wind players play a varied repertoire of mainly classical music.

Experience a unique musical journey with Saxofoonorkest050, under the inspiring leadership of saxophonist Lotte de Bruin. Be enchanted by the sounds of only saxophones in the beautiful setting of the Noorderplantsoen. With their varied repertoire, these saxophonists will gladly take you on a musical journey, from the energetic ‘Spain’ and the rhythmic ‘Sevilla’ to the rich sounds of Canon in D by Pachelbel.
