How we spend time at the end of stories

We had to miss them for a couple of years, but they are back! Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone are familiar and very welcome guests at Noorderzon. This time, they’ll present their newest work, The Following Evening, a collaboration with another theater-making couple.  Together with their pioneering theatre company 600 HIGHWAYMEN, they always present moving and idiosyncratic performances. In their brand new piece The Following Evening, they celebrate the transience of theatre and the steadfastness of love. After all, life and art are fleeting, but does that also apply to loving each other?

About the artist

600 HIGHWAYMEN
Since 2009, 600 HIGHWAYMEN (Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone) have been making exciting live art at the intersection of theatre, dance, contemporary performance and personal encounters. Although the processes differ from each other, each of their projects revolves around the same curiosity: what happens in a live meeting between people? 600 HIGHWAYMEN received several international awards, nominations and assignments. The French Le Monde called them "standard bearers of contemporary theatre" and the New Yorker described them as "one of New York's best, innovative theatre companies". 600 HIGHWAYMEN have been at Noorderzon several times before with Employee of the Year and The Record, in which 45 Groningen residents played leading roles.

Talking Band
Ellen Maddow and Paul Zimet are founding members of Talking Band, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. It has created over fifty new works which combine richly textured music-theater with striking visual imagery. Collectively, the company and founders have earned 15 Obie Awards and numerous other honors. Talking Band is a resident company at La MaMa and has performed at nearly all of New York City’s celebrated downtown venues. Its original productions have toured throughout the U.S. and internationally to 14 countries.

The Talking Band is one of the boldest and most venerable politically minded  companies in New York Experimental theater.
