We had to miss them for a couple of years, but they are back! Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone are familiar and very welcome guests at Noorderzon. This time, they’ll present their newest work, The Following Evening, a collaboration with another theater-making couple. Together with their pioneering theatre company 600 HIGHWAYMEN, they always present moving and idiosyncratic performances. In their brand new piece The Following Evening, they celebrate the transience of theatre and the steadfastness of love. After all, life and art are fleeting, but does that also apply to loving each other?
In this new work, you meet Ellen Maddow and Paul Zimet, founding members of NYC theater company Talking Band, who are at the cornerstone of New York City’s avant-garde theater community and have performed for over 50 years. In The Following Evening, they are working on perhaps their last theatre performance in New York. At a careful pace, a beautifully stylised piece about the rhythm of life and the passage of time appears. Sit down for a poignant and beautiful ode to a vanishing art form, and the people who devoted their lives to it. It is an honour that we can already present The Following Evening: the performance will not premiere in New York until next year.
With after-talk on August 27th at 4PM.
