Dead Centre

Good Sex

Touching a complete stranger on a stage just got harder. To do it right, should we avoid it completely, or talk about it and get better at it? Good Sex isn’t afraid to bare its teeth at our fear of sex, and we can’t help but grin back.

Consent is sexy

How do you have sex on a stage? How do you even pretend to do it? After #metoo, Harvey Weinstein and social distancing, touching someone’s body can feel dangerous. Especially live on stage. Yet Dead Centre, together with award-winning novelist Emilie Pine, dare to tread this taboo in such a cleverly funny way that you can’t help but take it seriously.

Raw, unsettling, seductive, provocative and very, very funny… turns the recent Covid past into an urgent interrogation of both our bodies and the nature of theatrical illusion.

About the artist

Award-winning company Dead Centre is a much-loved guest on Noorderzon. After Chekhov’s First Play (2016) and Hamnet (2017), they return to Noorderzon by making heavy subjects light-hearted in a way that only Dead Centre can. The company was founded in 2012 and is currently based in Dublin, Ireland, under the direction of Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd. They have since toured the world to places like New York, Hong Kong, Berlin and many more. For Good Sex they have paired up with Emilie Pine, who has been described by British newspaper The Guardian as one of the best debut novelists of 2022.
