A percussive kaleidoscope of beautiful spheres

Perched in the center of a perpetually moving whirlpool of pitched and unpitched instruments sits a lone Matthias Schack-Arnott. Gongs, marimba’s, organ pipes and wind-chimes seem to shift and cycle like a miniature planetary system. The result? A dizzyingly beautiful soundscape that makes for a modern-day time-out from the rushing world outside.

Australian percussive artist Matthias Schack-Arnott creates otherworldly music, with a mesmerizing canopy of instruments attached to an immersive rotational lighting system. A unique combination of complex architecture and sound, creating an instrument larger than life. Experiencing Everywhen might feel a bit like a time-machine; filled with child-like wonder, you will return to the day after being outside of time for a moment.

About the artist

Artist, percussionist and composer Matthias Schack Arnott returns to Noorderzon after his noted success with Polar Force (2019) as part of company Speak Percussion, together with Eugene Ughetti. Matthias has dedicated the last 10 years of his life to designingand building unique kinetic systems to create whole worlds of compelling sound. He has reeled in five Australian Music Awards, amongst many other prizes. His success has brought him to all corners of the earth, where he worked together with many leading musicians such as Steve Reich and Claire Chase.
