Once upon a time, there was this Irish lad who found his uncle’s guitar in the attic. After teaching himself how to play, he decided that he wanted to live off of music and therefore ran away from his childhood home in Ireland. He ended up in Liverpool, indeed earning a living as a busker. One day, on his way home in a taxi, he unsuspectingly found himself giving an impromptu performance of one of his songs inside the actual taxi. The driver filmed the whole thing and put it on YouTube, thus opening the door to David Keenan’s great breakthrough. Now, celebrities such as Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) and Glen Hansard (among others of The Frames) are some of his greatest fans. His biography seems to be a kind of fairy-tale, complete with matching soundtrack. David makes poetic and beautifully arranged folk music full of moving anecdotes. He is and always will remain an Irish troubadour, who manages to give you a lump in your throat just armed with a single guitar or piano, yet at the same time warms your heart with his comforting songs.
