This Australian cult hero creates a groovy kind of sexy disco funk music and also sports a super moustache: what more do you want. With his original music style, brimming with ‘80s synthesizers, old school disco sound effects and irony, Donny Benét stands out positively in the contemporary musical landscape. In 2011, he released his debut album Don’t Hold Back, marking the spectacular take-off of his career in Australia. Though inspired by for instance Prince and Giorgio Moroder – and that shows loud and clear – he manages to adopt these influences in his own unique way. With great danceable tracks such as ‘Working Out’ and ‘Konichiwa’ you would simply never forgive yourself missing ‘The Don’ this summer at Noorderzon.
