We are past the halfway mark

The festival is already over halfway! That means the first few days are done, but fortunately we still have lots of exciting performances, great encounters, inspiring conversations, brand new outfits and wonderful concerts to experience in the coming days. Will we see you there?

In this update you will find programme tips for the coming days, practical information, the first beautiful reviews and even more beautiful photos by our festival photographers, and you can still sign up as a volunteer. Scroll on quickly

In the press

There have already been quite a few performances and a number of reviews about them. De Volkskrant, for example, already gave five stars to Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists by Tiago Rodrigues, and DVHN was also full of praise and rewarded Gaviota/Meeuw by Guillermo Cacace with five stars. We collect all reviews and articles on our Noorderzon 2024 in beeld page (in Dutch).

Programme tips for coming days

Every festival day, you will find new programme tips on our website, full of performances and lectures for which tickets are still available. For the coming days, these include:

Matías Umpierrez - Eclipse
For nine millennia, people have been hiding their faces to chase the idea of becoming something ‘other’ than their one limited identity. Matías Umpierrez’ spellbinding solo performance dissects our obsession with (un)becoming ourselves.
26 - 28 August, Grand Theatre
CATPC - talk & film programme
CATPC is an art cooperative of plantation workers from Lusanga, Democratic Republic of Congo. This year, CATPC represents the Netherlands at the Venice Biennale. With the proceeds from their art, CATPC aims to buy and restore hundreds of hectares of former plantation land for future generations.
31 August, Nova - Noorderplantsoen
Peter and Julia - open mic night
How to talk about the need for risk-taking space? With a microphone and cheap beer of course. Brooklyn based risk-takers Julia Mounsey & Peter Mills Weiss win hearts with their awkwardly hilarious anti-theatre.
27-29 August, Usva
Guillermo Calderon - Vaca
As extreme right-wing leadership encourages rising class divisions all over the world, one of Chile’s most renowned directors takes the bull by its horns in this masterfully crafted political satire.
30 Aug - 1 Sept, Grand Theatre

First photos are in

Several of our great festival photographers are with us every day to capture the very best pictures. Besides professional image-makers, we also have another photo club. These are young photographers who learn the trade from photographer Jan Westerhof. We collect all photos on the Noorderzon 2024 in beeld page and share them on Facebook.
