About Dabke
(Arabic: literally: stomping) is a modern Levantine-Arab circle folk dance of possible Canaanite or Phoenician origin. It is performed in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Kurdistan . Dabke combines circle dance and line dancing and is widely performed at weddings, parties and other joyous occasions. The line is formed from right to left. The leader of the dabke heads the line, alternating between the audience and the other dancers.
