FAQ
What is Noorderzon going to look like this year?
-
This year Noorderzon takes place in the Noorderplantsoen and at various locations in Downtown Groningen: DOT, Grand Theatre, Het Houten Huis, Het Werk, Lutherse Kerk, Martiniplaza, Vera, VRIJDAG Theater and Usva. All locations are easy to reach on foot or by bike!
-
In the northern part of the festival site, you will find play venue Atlas, play venue Nova and Cinema Nova, open-air music stage Apollo, terraces Paradijsvogel and De Raaf and Podium de Raaf and De Winkel. In the southern part, you will find mirror tent Pollux, an area especially for children with De Kleine Beer, Grote Beer, Leeuw and Draak and music stage Callisto. In addition, several fine terraces. At four spots in the park you will find groups of containers.
How does it all work?
-
Certainly, the festival site in the Noorderplantsoen is freely accessible, just like the concerts at Apollo, Callisto and De Raaf. You do need a ticket for most performances in the Noorderplantsoen and Downtown Groningen, though.
-
We recommend coming on foot or by bike to the Noorderplantsoen or to the Downtown locations. Sufficient temporary bicycle parking facilities will also be provided surrounding the Noorderplantsoen area. In the centre – the area surrounding the Grand Theatre and the Forum – it is no longer allowed to park your bike on the street. Two permanent bicycle parking facilities have therefore been created in this area. Please check the website of the Municipality of Groningen for more information about these facilities.
Arriving from out of town? Then we suggest coming by public transportation. If you come by Arriva, you might indeed be so lucky to catch the one and only Noorderzon train! After arriving in Groningen we recommend coming to the festival area by bike, hiring a public transport bicycle might be a good idea for example. Many can be found at the Groningen Main Train Station, as well as at the Groningen North Train Station. They can be found in a limited amount of so-called bicycle lockers.

For the smaller performances of the children's programme and the short performances in the containers, tickets can only be bought on the day of the festival at the entrance of the relevant location. These are therefore not available online or at The Shop.
